Japan has sank it’s teeth into just about every country’s markets with the creation of what is commonly referred to as “anime”. What is anime? Basically, it is nothing more than animated series’ that originated in Japan. These series have become wildly popular in the past decade or so and continues to expand to this day.
Anime is mainly produced in the form of manga, graphic novels and animated T.V. shows. There are thousands of different anime series that have spread like wildfire from Japan to the United States, Great Britain, Australia and many other countries. Anime dates back all the way to 1917 in Japan but it didn’t start becoming popular in other countries until the 1980s. There are also anime video games and even internet web series that are quite popular.
Common children’s T.V. shows such as Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! are classified as being anime. These series have had major impact in the United States and are massive brands that have spanned for almost two decades. These two cartoons are childish and playful but there are anime series that are geared more toward audiences of young adults and adults alike as well. Some anime even contain nudity and sexual themes. These series are rated “Mature” and are meant to be for adults only.
There have been many popular T.V. shows that you probably know of but never thought were anime. These include Dragon Ball Z, Bakugan Battle Brawlers, Inuyasha, Mobile Suit Gundam, Speed Racer, Pokemon, Transformers, Thundercats, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Sailor Moon. All of these are or were at one time very popular shows in which your kids, or even you, watched.
You can purchase an anime DVD, graphic novel or video game online. There are stores in local areas that sell these items, too, but they are much easier to find on the Internet. Online retailers are the way to go when it comes to purchasing anime related items. They often offer them for much cheaper prices and even have bundle deals at times that will save you loads of money and fill up your anime collection quickly.
Most online anime stores provide more than just DVDs, manga and video games. You can also find things like an anime wallpaper, bedding, clothing, posters, keychains, jewelry, magnets and pretty much anything else you can think of. They literally have everything imaginable in an anime theme. No matter what your favorite anime series is, you can find memorabilia related to it via an online anime store.
In conclusion, anime is widely popular, comes in many forms and is continuing to grow rapidly even in the United States and Canada. There are loads of T.V. shows and comics that are classified as anime that you probably wouldn’t even think woudl be. Japanese animation has become a part of household activities for children, teens and adults. It is truly remarkable how successful these series are. Anime will only become more and more a part of our every day lives in the near future.
